MAIN
is a ranch style camp with a capacity of 134 campers
per session. It features a large dining hall and cabins for camper
living quarters. Through fun and friendships, the program emphasizes
the development of self-esteem, physical and interpersonal skills
and spiritual values. Main is home to our junior and intermediate
sessions.
-
- CONESTOGA is Dallas Valleys
satellite campsite with a smaller capacity of 60 campers per
session. It features its own dining room and covered wagons for
camper living quarters. Conestoga is the home of our teen, junior
teen, xtreme camps for boys, and the western riding sessions.
-
- Western Horsemanship is our specialty at both sites.
- One of Dallas Valley's main program feature is horsemanship.
Daily riding sessions deal with basic care of horses as well
as riding skills. Campers who demonstrate the ability to handle
their horses skillfully and responsibly inside the riding arena
will have the opportunity to participate in trail rides. Roping
skills are also featured in our riding program. All of our riding
sessions are held outdoors consequently the weather dictates
how much riding can be done during any given camp session. Although
riding is our most popular activity, and most campers participate,
riding is optional.
The Teen sessions emphasize spiritual development
and discipleship training and are an excellent preparation for
campers who may want to participate in the Leader In Training
program in future years. Campers use some of the skill areas
at the main camp site to round out their daily program.
The Western Riding sessions are designed
for teen campers who have a consuming interest in horses and
the development of personal riding skills. You will spend most
of your time at the corrals learning the "how to's"
of good grooming, proper feeding, foot care, gymkana events,
proper riding techniques and proceedures for trail rides. You
will be required to help with the riding sessions for the junior
age campers who will also be in camp that week. Another feature
will be an overnight trail ride. If you own your own horse you
may request permission to bring it with you.
Xtreme
Camps for boys is being added to the sessions at Conestoga
in 2010. Paintball, mountain biking and boarding will be the
feature activities. Check it out here.
